Phoebe - A Journey with the Spirit is a memoir of Phoebe Bacon (1900-1980).  Phoebe was the bright and lively daughter of a wealthy mill-owner, who led a conventional upper middle class life before her husband’s illness and the second world war brought out her mystic, independent side.  This found its fulfilment after her husband died, when she found a new role as a philanthropist and pioneer in providing more sympathetic care for the elderly.
